Technical Support

Technical support is different from training, because with technical support, the calls are normally short to solve a specific problem. Windward has many support technicians dedicated to the job in addition to several programmers and trainers. If your system is down, and it’s an emergency, we’ll pull out all the stops to ensure you get the support you need.

Like the training modules, we use PC Anywhere to connect to your computer over the internet or phone line, so that we can see your computer and view the problem directly so it can be fixed quickly. Anything that might need adjusting with our software can be fixed long distance, through remote access, so we can ensure a high quality of support.

 

Maintenance

Windward Software Maintenance Packages are optional, but we highly recommend that our customers subscribe. Including support, updates and access to webinars and training videos, the maintenance package keeps your business up to date with the software, enables you to call in for support without worrying about a big bill and empowers you to get the most out of your investment, all for one low monthly fee.

Line Comment - This type of comment gets attached to a line on an invoice. For service work, it would describe what work was actually done. For inventory sales, it may include information such as "Scratched - Sold As Is" This type of comment almost always gets printed on the customer information. This comment is normally limited to 7 lines in length but you can have many of these per invoice.

Freeform Comment - You can define up to 20 fields for the invoices and then enter data for these fields for each invoice. In the service business, it might include the Make, Model and Serial number of the unit being worked on if you are not using the Unit system. You can define which of these comments to print and which not to print. Appliance servicing companies often fill in these fields to print the on CESA forms.

At Windward Software, we value customer input and work hard every day to take customer suggestions and incorporate them into the system. Since inception in 1984, we have had continuous improvements and we are still surprised at the ideas our customers have, which continually make the program even better. These updates are available to you over the internet for easy downloading and updating.

Updates are included at no extra charge for the first year, after which there is a charge of 12.5% of the current software price to keep the system up-to-date. Pre payment and multiple year discounts are available.

If you need a modification to the software for your company only, we can do this with custom programming. Often a big change for you is just a small programming job for us. We recognize that every business is different and sometimes these small changes can save you a lot of keystrokes. Please note: that extra charges are applicable for custom programming.

 

When we add custom programming to the system for you, it will become part of the core system, so it will continue to be available to you as you update the software. This is an important feature, as many of our competitors will not custom program, and if you do receive customization from a competitor you will be stuck with the version you have without upgrades.

 

The majority of our training is done via telephone, where our computer connects to your computer over the internet, so both you and our trainer can see what is on your screen. At the same time our trainer will be talking with you on the telephone to guide you through the process.

 

We’re here to help. Our pleasant staff has all been well trained on all aspects of the software to help you choose the right options upon setup to make the software fit your business.

We can then show you how to perform tasks by controlling your mouse and keyboard, or watch and assist you in completing the steps. The lessons can be scheduled in several one to two-hour sessions so that you receive the training you need when you need it, instead of training you in advance and hoping you remember what you learned. For example, you may not perform a month-end procedure until you have loaded up the system, started work, and reached your first month-end. Our trainer can guide you through the process at this time, so you will thoroughly understand it and learn it for the next time.

The Internet is an excellent training tool, but we don't get to see you face-to-face. If you desire, we can travel to your office and train you on-site, and we do this for many of our clients around the world.
